How to Care for a Silicone Strap Watch and Keep It Looking New

SMAEL 8136 Sonic Core sport watch in green worn on the wrist

Silicone straps are light, flexible and made for an active life. With a little care, they stay comfortable and look great for a long time.

Rinse after sweat or water

After a workout, a swim or a day at the beach, rinse the strap and case with fresh, lukewarm water. Salt and sweat left on the surface can irritate the skin and dull the color.

Clean with mild soap

Once in a while, wash the strap with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush or cloth, then rinse and dry. Avoid strong solvents, bleach and abrasive cleaners.

Dry completely

Dry the watch and the area under the strap with a soft cloth. Moisture trapped against the skin is the most common cause of irritation.

Keep it away from heat and harsh chemicals

Long exposure to direct sun, very hot water, saunas, perfumes, sunscreen and insect repellent can affect the strap and the seals of the watch. Take the watch off before using them.

Light colors need extra attention

Light-colored straps can pick up stains from dark clothing such as new jeans. Wipe them off early with a damp cloth and mild soap.

Store it properly

When you are not wearing your watch, keep it clean and dry, away from direct sunlight, without folding or bending the strap.
